Okay, I want to tell you everything about the indie movie I saw last night, but at the same time I don't want to tell you much because I want you to SEE it.

It was a creepy-ass movie. It was that cool kinda creepy, very effective. Visually stunning. It was mostly in Chinese with English subtitles, and is only playing at the Archlight in Hollywood on Sunset. It is about a girl who was blind almost her entire life, and just got cornea transplants. Through her new eyes, which heal and become clearer, she starts seeing more than just normal things, and begins to see ghosts, and more than she bargains for.

Oooh, I really want to tell you more, but I'll stop there. Some of the movie is very sad, but I think the whole film was very effective.

A gem in the rough of summer movies. Except for Pirates and 28 Days Later.

And maybe I'm just, like, I dunno, weird, but when Johnny Depp first became popular with 21 Jumpstreet and his first handful of movies, I didn't think he was all that. When all the little girls were going nuts for him, I was just like "Eh, whatever" but over the course of a few years noe I have a ton of appreciation for him (yes, you may read that as now I think he's hot too, if ya want, but I sewar it's all an appreciation for talent :) ) He just NAILS these characters. I can't wait to see him in yet another interesting role, due to come out next year, where he will be playing James Barrie, the guy who wrote "Peter Pan"....

Wow, I went total valley girl/fan girl there... sorry bout that. :) See what happens when I miss my Comic Con?!
