Okay, it sounded a little outrageous when I first heard about it. I think I even ranted about it in my journal when I first heard about it. But what I thought I understood the intent behind the show, or at least how it was portrayed in the promos, as altruistic and benevolent, I was kinda okay with the concept. The snippets of women in the commercials who were so happy with their new look after not seeing themselves in a mirror for three months was a bit emotion influencing.

I mean, why not seek out a handful of girls who have major appearance issues, give them some coaching, personal training, some therapy, and a simple nip and tuck, and if they are happy with themselves afterwards, you've done some good for them right?

Well, that may have been the general idea, but I think something has gone horribly awry, as the show's website was brought to my attention by my buddy Jonathan.

Okay, here is what I was expecting... I was expecting them to choose women with major problems, like scars, or deformities, or something that they could use some help cleaning up or fixing that has really been damaging to their self image throughout the years. Women with obvious issues that could be addressed and should be,

I didn't expect women who seem to have been simply plain women (rather than the "truly needing of help" that I expected) go through with being turned into Barbie dolls. Actually, they look worse than Barbie dolls, they're like 99 cent store Barbie doll rip-offs, left in the sun too long, and done up as female impersonators. They're not even recognizable as who they used to be! I'd be horrified if I couldn't recognize myself!

It looks like the message board on the site has a lot of people who share the same horrified response I have.

I understand wanting to do something for yourself, I understand the personal trainer, the life coach, the therapy, but the 250K of plastic surgery, to look like THAT and THEN get thrown in a beauty contest?! It's just unreal.

I just wonder what these women will be like after the trauma from the beauty pageant is over a few years from now. it seems cruel
