Enjoy the ride.

Currently, I live in a small 'crossroad' town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I'm raising a wonderful son, cultivating a promissing career in Real Estate and enjoying every day! I'm involved in many community activities, charitable organizations and do LOTS of Yoga! Life is a great ride. Things change, I adapt and follow the 'road' with love and humility. • Book Club

I just got home from my book club meeting. I enjoyed it so much! I have been wanting to write about it every time, but haven't yet. So tonight I am staying up late, while the baby is sleeping, so I can.

The books we've chosen have been a good variety, from thought provoking to fun. So far we read, "Life of Pi", "The DaVinci Code", "A Cowboy Summer", and "Bel Canto". The one for next month is to be "Into the Forest". I love having the deadline every month - it really helps me keep up on my reading.

And it doesn't get any better than the group of women we have. They are all from different backgrounds, but each is independent, strong, intelligent, and fun. I am enjoying getting to know each of them better with every discussion. We talk about the book; the style of writing, what points the writer was trying to get across, how it reflects real life, etc. We also talk about current events, politics, religion, etc. Good meaty stuff! I learn a great deal from each woman.

Among our group, we have a terrific Romance Novelist with two grown children. She has liberal political views and a good view spiritually of life. Her son is an Ayur Vedic practitioner - yay!!! I never would have thought to find an Ayur Vedic practitioner in this small town. It is a hollistic, eastern philosophy of medicine that I have done research on and found to be impressively healthful. Unfortunately, though, not many people have heard about it. So I was very excited to find someone who not only has heard of it, but is very involved with it.

Another wonderful woman in our group is a professional who had children after her career. She has two young girls - a two year old and one year old. Her husband commutes to San Francisco during the week and is home on the weekends. She has a great attitude about how to raise children and gives me a lot of good advice with Allex. She is a good example of an independent mother.

We also have a fantastic woman who is in the medical field. She is very dedicated and involved in helping the community especially with civil rights and minorities. I've always wanted to be as involved as she is. She is on the pulse of politics locally and nationally. She sees politics as a necessary way to help bring about changes and really does her part to help. She is also very environmentally conscious. Her electricity at her house is run almost exclusively from Solar Power. She even charges her electric car using Solar energy.

In addition, we have a great woman that works with me in my Real Estate Office. She and I were the ones to start the club. She is from the Bay area. She is full career woman, no kids. She has been in the corporate world most of her life. But now she has made a lot of life changes, wanting the simple country life. She enjoys her horse back riding, her home, and her work.

And last, but not least, is the Romance writer’s sister - she has only just recently joined us. I am still getting to know her. She seems really nice. She has a new granddaughter who is 6 days older than Allex. I got to see her tonight. Too cute!

So, I must say, I am thankful to find such like-minded, modern women, with definite opinions. It is refreshing and stimulating. I am looking forward to the next book and the next meeting. Ok, I guess I better get to bed. I have a long day of work tomorrow. Nite All!
