I have this plant growing in my spot of earth. There was nothing like it last year, so, I don't know where it came from. The gopher has not begun chomping on this plant but I have seen a path up to it which I preceded to tamp it down from Crochet Lady's suggesting.

If anyone recognizes this plant, please let me know.
