Meet Jesus, for the first time . . . AGAIN. Did you hear that? Cuz I'm gonna repeat it: Meet Jesus, for the first time . . .AGAIN. If you can believe it, that phrase is trademarked. Trademarked. A mark of trade. "Legally restricted to the use of the owner or manufacturer" (Webster's). The best thing about Webster's definition here is that, when applied to the phrase above, it implies that a religious expression can be manufactured. Of course, this is the sad beauty of the Evangelical church: it is manufactured religious expression--expression developed with the specific intent to comfort people into monotony. Religious expression, one would think, comes from a true desire to exhale one's own impression of the divine. It turns out, however, that you can go and pick it up from the corner church and you don't have to bother coming up with anything neat on your own. It's all prepackaged, manufactured, and trademarked. Thanks, God!! Thank you, come again!
