Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

I'm hip

Over on the 43 Folders blog, there's an entry on the "Hipster PDA." Hey, I've been using one of these for about four years now, and thought it was so geeky that no one else would ever make one of these. Here's my own personal tweaks to optimize the Hipster:
  • Instead of index cards, I switched to 3x5 sheets of notepaper, so I can carry more pages in the same space.
  • I cut out 3x10.5 covers from manila file folders, centered on the folder's crease, to surround the stack on both sides. The notepaper doesn't hold up as well in the pocket as index cards, so the cover protects them a bit. I make bunches of these covers at a time, so I can toss it when it starts getting beat up.
  • Two of the mini clips are my binding of choice.
I knew I should have copyrighted this thing.
