Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

Tar Heels or Wolfpack

My oldest daughter got her letter of acceptance today from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She already had an earlier acceptance from North Carolina State University. So, UNC or NC State? Baby blue or red? The Pit or the Brickyard? Tar Heels or Wolfpack? University Towers or the Granville? Carolina or State?

She's already decided that math is not her thing, and State is probably best known as an engineering college. Carolina probably has a better reputation academically. Both are state schools, so tuition will be similar at both, unless one of them comes up with a better financial aid package. She's already got friends at both places (from her HS marching band).

Her choice, but I'm leaning towards Carolina.
