Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

Getting old

Former number-one women's tennis player Martina Hingis took a shot at a comeback today, after being sidelined two years with an ankle injury. The rise of the Williams sisters may also have had something to do with it, but I digress. Martina lost her first round match 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, so the comeback is up in the air. What floored me was something Hingis said in the post-match interview:

"The foot is still all right now," she said. "But we will see tomorrow. I'm 25 now. It's hard for me physically. I'm not 18 years old anymore."

Crap, she's only frigging 25 and lamenting that she's not 18 anymore. Man, I'm feeling mighty old right about now. Maw, fetch me my walking stick!
