She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Eek! Time passes!

ALNM: 1146

Holy crap, dude, how did it get to be Wednesday already?! And a third of the way through June?! And almost halfway through the year?!!!!

[deep breath]

Gettin’ stuff done today. Proofed the Society Equestrian Manual; just waiting on answers to a few niggling questions, and then that’s off my desk. Did everything I can on the Avant Courier site booklet; waiting on a picture. Updated my second-quarter protégé report. Had a scrummy avocado, swiss, tomato, sprout, and fat-free mayo on toasted wheat for lunch.

More errands today. Why are we running errands every bloody day? I’m not really sure. Well, I forgot to buy rose oil (to coat my fingers when I make the rose beads), so I had to go to the mall for that. Well, I didn’t _have_ to go to the mall—I’m sure I could have found it elsewhere—but my need for a new pair of jeans was reaching the critical stage. If I lose 10 lbs, I’ll have three pairs I fit into, but I can’t wait any longer. I ended up with a pair of black “jeans” (they’re more twill than jean material, but they fit great, and I absolutely didn’t want pre-faded jeans, which was all else they had in my size), four summer shirts (so I can throw out some of my grungier ones), and a new, bright pink bra. We also went to Staples, and got things like file dividers and presentation folders for A&S docs and a new toner cartridge for the Behemoth printer.

We went to Textile Guild tonight. Ken stayed out with the menfolk, who apparently did put together an inkle loom and other manly things. We’ve moved from spinning, which I’m not interested in, to weaving, which I’m very interested in. Cool stuff. The person teaching, Baroness Cara, had brought a floor loom similar to mine, so that was immensely useful.

Last night and tonight we put the cats in carriers and set them facing in the hallway. Charlie is the least happy with being in the carrier, oddly. Last night Eostre sat and glared; tonight she seemed less concerned. Ken did some research on other ways to acclimate strange cats to each other, and we’ll be trying some of those techniques as well over the next few days. Fascinating, neh?

Got more work done on ALNM, back to the previously unfinished chapter. I probably could have written more, but I was tired, and I left it at the beginning of a fairly major discussion, so I’ll be able to pick it up and run with it tomorrow.
