good evening

I had a good evening yesterday. I took Sean to work and went to take care of the cats. Ivy got home from work and she and I went to dinner at Puglioni's (easily one of my favorite places to eat, they make their own pasta, and bread, and more...). Ivy and I each got a french fry salad (the best of both worlds--you get to feel healthy, cause you ate a salad, and you get to have french fries too) so I fed my daily potato craving (laugh) and we shared some oohie gooie cheese dumplings. Then I went over to Sean's and set up the lap-top and actually finished a short story! Yep. Sent it off to T for a read-through. I think it's good, but it's very different from anything I've ever written before. It's only about 1400 words, and very episodic--but like I said, I think it's good...

Next I need to figure out where to send it, of course.

This morning I sent a few poems off, one to Champagne Shivers, one to SH, and yesterday I sent a couple to Star*Line, so I feel pretty good, over all. It's almost enough to get me over feeling unemployed...

Oh, I know, I'm the good kind of unemployed--the kind where I'm taking time to study for the bar exam. But this is the first time I've been unemployed since high school. I worked through undergrad, and I worked through law school (only twenty-hours a week, but hey, I still worked, you know?). So it's weird to not have a job--weird in kinda a bad way.

I've been trying to see it as a vacation. In the alternative, I've been trying to see it as a chance to get some writing done. (The bar prep course doesn't start until June 2nd.)

I'm hoping I'll be able to convince myself to sit back and enjoy it, but the negative side of it (you're in debt, and you're not working, you're in debt, and you're not working, you're in debt) keeps eating at me. Of course, notice that I still went out to eat last night (though to be honest, it wasn't an expensive meal at all).

But hey, I got one story written. And now I need to go figure out what to write next.
