Happy St. Pats!

Well, it's five a.m. and I've woken up and can't get back to sleep so I thought I'd write a quick journal entry. The university picked this week to have spring break, which means I'll be having a rather strapped fer cash holiday, but ah well. (No back-up bartending when there aren't enough patrons to open both bars at Pleasant--though I'll be going there tonight just in case.) It's a famine and feast sort of thing, as next week The Clarks are playing two nights and the Argument is having their cd release party on the third night, and all three nights should be madhouses. And it's pay day (next week) at the comic shop. So, good will of the people and the tips be large, next week I'll be able to pay for the car repairs...

Yep, the car is in the shop. It needs inspected at the end of this month, so I'm finally getting the large dent in the front fixed (someone backed into me in a parking lot an age ago, and I hadn't gotten it fixed yet). Also the Subaru, which I love (and her name is Hrududu, though we seldom call her by it) has multiple odd little engine problems, so this week is the cosmetic work I can't afford, and next week is the engine work I can't afford. (Nothing's *broke* yet and I want to keep it that way--she's got a really slow oil leak and a loose heat shield underneath (Jake checked for me) which rattles badly, and a long standing transmission or fuel injection problem, all of which I'd like to see go away.)

Yes, it's a lot of money to spend on the car all at once, but my credit is still good. (And the extra money to the card each month will be more than worth it for a car which won't break down.) And hopefully next week's pay will let me pay back a goodly sized chunk of that pretty quickly.

So no money to spare, but there's plenty of food in the house, the rent is already paid, the student loan bill o' the month is paid, and the electric bill is half paid (thankfully enough to satiate the power company for the nonce--I have electric heat, so praise Demeter spring is coming and the money for the next bill won't be hard to come by). And of course, I have a tax return to look forward to, so that'll be some money back as well (and should be enough to finish off the car repair--now for the rest of my monstrous debt *g*).

I made homemade mac and cheese tonight. MMMMmmmm, mac and cheese. So I'll be able to take that to work for lunch tomorrow... er, today. Hell, probably both, I won't be tired of it.

I've had some writing I would love to get done (and some critiquing I will do soon, I swear) but time has been escaping me recently. I feel like there's hardly enough time to get everything done. But the house is getting cleaner bit by bit, and the car is getting fixed, and the bills are getting paid, so I guess there really isn't much to complain about here.

Now I'll be off to get a couple hours more sleep. And how are you, this fine St. Pats?
