bachelor(ette)s and video games

Well, I'm half waiting for a phone call to go get Sean (which, since it's only 1:30am, may not be for another 2-5 hours yet, depending on how many shots are being had). It's Andy's bachelor party tonight. I've never been real fond of bachelor or bachelorette parties, partially because I feel excluded (most of my friends in life have been guys), but also because I think it's the wrong message to send: "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, so I need to exclude you so I can have one last yahoo before we're hitched."

If I should have a bachelorette party I think it will be an atypical one--I want to invite both girls and guys. And then the guys (including the s.o.) could have the fun of enjoying the same stupid blowjob shots...

Oh well. The fun news is that since I was here I got a little more sorting and cleaning done, and found a birthday card from a year ago that still had $10 in it. Woo hoo! (Whenever I open a card from a relative, I always put the money back inside the card, then carry it home. This one I had put aside but not reopened...) So yay!

Ya gotta love the simple joys.

So I traded in a bunch of old games up at Gamestop today and used the credit to pick up two: an old PSOne game I loved, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and the new Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. I barely played a bit of Castlevania so far, just to make sure the game was okay--I loved that game. It's better than the PS2 one, Lament of Innocence (which is one of the games I turned in to get this one), because SotN had so much longer and more interesting game play. LoI was frustrating because a lot of the "secrets" in the game you would never figure out without a walk-thru. I sort of felt bad about turning it in, as I had played all the Castlevania games and really enjoyed them, but I just didn't see myself replaying it any time soon.

I heard that the Dark Alliance II game is much cooler than the first one. I hope so, because I played all the way through the first one with one of the character classes only to find that the character, even at the end, just wasn't tough enough to do the end fight the way you were supposed to. So we had to go all the way back through with a fighter to beat the game...

No writing news, mostly because I haven't been writing lately. I have some ideas though, so once I get some time I ought to be able to come up with a few things to get out there... I need to send some of my stories back out to places.

Ah well. I suppose I should get off here and either clean some more or start myself a new video game. I'll try to post a little more often!

Hey, maybe that's what my hypothetical bachelorette party should be... A night with friends, whiskey, and some lame fighting or car race game we could all play against one another... Oh yeah. Forget the bachelorette party, folks, we're doing this next week!
