This is Eric's bedroom after Tuesday night. (Not my landlord and friend Eric, my coworker and friend Eric.) He pretty much lost everything he owned. (Only this bedroom burned before the firefighters put out the fire, so he still has a few kitchen things and one living room chair.) His roommate Ray lost some things due to smoke damage, and of course they are both now homeless. Couch-surfing, anyway.

What happened was an accident: cleaning the house; lit a scented candle; was in the next room vacuuming; and the candle fell.

It's amazing how fast one's world can change, and how your perspective changes with it.

No one was hurt.
