Well, I've had nearly no free computer time over the last few weeks, which bites for writing (and for various other things, like updating the SFPA website, and writing journal entries).

I am currently sitting in the beautiful upper bar at 123 Pleasant Street, drinking a Blue Moon red-eye (I typically can't stand tomato juice, but I've been craving it recently--wonder what vitamin that means I'm lacking?), watching Ghostbusters II on Comedy Central, running on Dave's morfree.org wireless, taking a break from working on CompuHigh while I wait for my Italian sub to come from Casa, so I can eat before my shift starts. Life can be busy and good at the same time, amazing idnnit?

So I'm really looking forward to Michael Turner's Soulfire which is coming out this week. It'll have dragons and fairies and magic and gorgeous art, which are all things I seriously approve of when they're done well. I have a problem with Michael Turner's women (and sometimes men) all looking exactly the same, but other than that I love his work. I just read Fathom recently, which was his mer-people story, and I really enjoyed it, so I have high high hopes for this one.

Also the next issue of Fables comes out this week. I loved the scene between Snow and the Wolf in the last issue, where she runs out and wraps her arms around his neck (I wish Willingham had done more with it) so I'm hoping we get to have a little more of the relationship stuff in this next ish. (And no, it's not a girly thing--Eric thought that scene kicked ass, but was too brief, too. So thbbbbbbbbppppt!)

Bartending pretty much rocks. I think it's the only job where you're obligated to be a bitch. It might be evil, but it's fantastic for the mental/emotional equilibrium. If you've ever worked retail, customer service of any kind, or grokked Clerks, you probably already know exactly what I mean.

Ooooh--sub. Hold on.

(Okay, so now the tomato juice is suddenly gross again. Luckily I have the rest of the Blue Moon left. So I must have gotten whatever I needed there.)

Right, so bartending. It's amazing how little people want to leave at the end of a night. Now don't get me wrong, I'm as bad as they are if the situation is reversed--and I realize this. But again, a job where you are pretty much obligated to yell at people, and/or throw them out, or not serve them if they're annoying assholes, is really refreshing. I realize that whenever anyone gives me reason to really get mean I feel happy and glowy for the next day and a half. Is this a power-trip? Or just a healthy emotional balancing type of thing? Does getting to kick people out release endorphins, I wonder?

Also, you get paid to serve people alcohol. There's just something happy about that.

Time's up--gotta go. More soon, I hope.
