Lazy Weekend

This was officially a Lazy Weekend. Like the past four weekends, I spent it inside my apartment, doing absolutely nothing productive. And even though I'm feeling much better, I still didn't do anything, and I won't feel guilty about it. Well, okay, I lied, I was slightly productive. I got my bills paid, and I finished reading White Apples by Jonathan Carroll, his newest novel and another gem. I always get charged up about my own writing after reading Carroll; I'm starting to get anxious about returning to the novel. It's been languishing at chapter five since May. As soon as I get "One Less" and the no-longer-Valhalla story finished up and sent out, I'm jumping back on An American Symphony.

I just found out this morning that Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club and Choke is coming to the Bull's Head Bookshop in Chapel Hill on October 1 as a part of his book tour for his newest novel, Lullaby. The only problem is that it's at 3:30 PM. I may just have to miss a few hours of work that day. He's an incredible writer, and I'd really like to meet him.

Also, if I haven't mentioned before (though I'm sure I have), Jonathan Carroll is going to be at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh at 7:30 PM on November 14 for his White Apples book tour. I've contacted Green Man Review and requested to review this book. I can't believe that two of my favorite authors are going to be in town within a couple of months. It's very exciting.

I'm getting back on "One Less" tonight if it kills me. I want to get a third draft done and out the door.
