Highlights of my weekend, liturgical:

  • Saturday Morning Worship -- I attended this in part because I recognized the two hymns ("Hail the Glorious Golden City" and "Blue Boat Home") as versions of "Hyfrydol," which I've been known to geek on about. Neat to see three generations of UU women ministers sharing the stage (the preacher, her mentor, and the pastor of her childhood church).

  • I love listening to Kellie Walker sing.

  • 50 Years of UU Music: Our RE library has a copy of Hymns of the Spirit. I'm going to want to revisit "Brief Our Days":

Brief our days, but long for singing,
when to sing is made our call,
For a million stars now flinging
    Light upon this earthly ball.
In a setting of what splendor
are we given chance to render
    tribute for the whirling sky
where we live and where we die...

"Guide My Feet" sung a cappella ("Search my heart while I run this race..."). Various couples swing-dancing in the back of the hall to "Let It Be Dance." And getting to sing "When Our Heart is in a Holy Place," which had been an earworm in my head since the opening ceremony.

  • Coming across the Spanish-language version of "Come, Come Whoever You are" in the video/script of the Friday morning worship service (intro at 5:42, singing at 7:10, lyrics in the script). Nomada en busqueda, si amas la vida ...

Highlights of my weekend, according to my stomach: the chicken salad and the salty caramel brownies at Amelie's French Bakery

Highlight of my weekend, touristical: visiting the Bechtler Museum. I especially grooved to the motorized pieces in the Niki de Saint Phalle exhibit (especially "I Woke Up Last Night") and the photo of Albert Giacometti at his easel, gazing at his wife Annette.

Two "Nashville is with me wherever I go" moments:
  • Keith Urban was playing down the street

  • a friend and I were walking back through the Green when two girls called out to us. "Hey, we're UUs too! What's a synonym for 'advice'? We're writing a song!"
