Waking Up

=================================================

Location: Work.
Contemplating: A response to Peter's posts of yesterday.
Listening: "Good Cop, Bad Cop" ~ Everything But The Girl.

As noted, I'm still pondering what my response to Peter's posts concerning our recent sex life will be. I realize that I'm not used to articulating my thoughts on sex and sexuality (at least not textually), so this might be something of a learning experience for everyone involved.

On a semi-related note, I've been reading Jenn's journal and have realized that Mary Anne, an erotica writer and friend of Jenn's, will be down in LA with her on Sunday. When I first learned that Jenn was acquainted with Mary Anne , I was floored. I stumbled across Mary Anne's site seven years ago (back when I waited almost ten minutes for Mosaic to load on the machines in the 'SC labs) and have been reading steadily ever since. She was only the second woman (the first being Anne Rice writing The Sleeping Beauty Chronicles as Anne Rampling) I had encountered who wrote erotica without apology. I was fascinated and eventually moved to try my own hand at the genre; I still cite her as a major influence. I urge anyone reading to at least glance over her site. As for recommended stories, "Chantelle" still gets to me after seven years.

It occurs to me that, if any of you actually hop over and read that piece, I'm probably going to need to explain myself. Or not--I could just let you mull it over and draw your own conclusions, which is much more fun for me, but could eventually lead to some disturbing misconceptions. Hm. But I digress...

So when I read that Mary Anne would be visiting with Jenn briefly, I considered purchasing Aqua Erotica (an anthology of stories about the connection between water and sex that she edited a little while back) and asking Jenn if she could possibly ask Mary Anne to sign it for me (provided that she wasn't too tired or busy and that it wouldn't be too much trouble for her, etc. etc.). I'm still considering it. I'm such a fucking fangirl--but I'd do the same for Terry Moore, Tori Amos, Karin Bergquist (of Over The Rhine), Margo Timmins (Cowboy Junkies), Verandah Porche, Diane DiPrima...we'll see.
