The Second Day Of The Rest Of Her Life.

=================================================

Location: Work.
Listening: "32 Flavors" by Ani DiFranco.

Just finished breakfast and a long bout of xeroxing, and I returned to my desk to find an announcement from Thea. Stacy, an old friend of mine from my LARP days who moved to Pennsylvania (and with whom I've been horribly out of touch ever since), gave birth to her daughter at 8:17 AM EST yesterday morning.

Unlike other babies I've known, Raime Karelyn Wilson is arriving as more of a long-awaited friend than a mysterious guest. Stacy has known Raime's sex and name for the duration of her pregnancy, and she has actually become an entity, referred to by our mutual friends by name rather than as "Stacy's baby" or any other, less personal, signifier. She's had an individual presence for about six months longer than any other child I've known. Sometimes, to hear people talk of her, you'd never know she hadn't yet been born. I like that.

Astrologically speaking (because it's me, and I'm a dork like that), Ms. Raime has her sun resident in Pisces, her moon in Sagittarius, and Aries ascending. If the various elements predicting her natural tendencies hold true, she'll be a sensitive, creative, intuitive, passionate, and deeply ambitious girl with a remarkable will and an intense drive to succeed in everything she does. Sagittarius will move her to be highly intellectually curious and driven to learn as much as possible about a wide variety of subjects.

As a Pisces-Aries cusp, this sounds good to me. *grin*

Congratulations, Stacy, on bringing your daughter into the world and welcome, Raime, into this thing of ours. I envy all that you have in front of you.
