You're So Vain.

Location: Home.
Listening: "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon.

Prior to eating Yaga's yummy chicken fajitas this evening, I conducted an impromptu digital photo session, experimenting a little with light and angles. The following three pictures are my favorites of the twenty or so that were taken:

This time, my objective was to attempt to manipulate the available lighting in the den to produce...something. I wasn't actually certain of how any of the photos would turn out. After a little trial and error, I discovered that some of the best takes were resulting from my lying on my back on the sofa, directly beneath the globe of the chrome floor lamp. I also experimented with several profile shots, as I rarely allow myself to be photographed in profile (a leftover from my childhood, when my mother stressed that my nose negatively affected side shots). I was, as you can tell, pleased with the results.

I consider these shots to be, in a sense, a milestone in my dabbling in photography (which I've been doing since sixth grade). I discovered that I can do more than snap landscapes and naked Yagas with my digicam. My goals for the future involve working more with the Fuji as well as my Pentax ZX 30, hopefully building my skills in portraiture and overcoming my sense of intrusion when attempting candid shots of human subjects.

In other news, I came home this evening to a wonderful surprise--Yaga had cleaned the den and the LEGO nook, and the house looked better than it has in months. I took some shots of these areas as well and will be posting them shortly.
