We Have Lift Off

It's going to take some getting used to -- but I finally did score the correct cable and after some fanangling, the five dollar 19" LCD monitor is operational.

Wow! It's like getting a new pair of glasses. Awesome.

Of course, when I first hooked it up, nothing appeared. At first I thought I was going to need a new driver, but Vista is supposed to be plug and play...well, I looked anyway. No drivers to be found, so I had the brilliant idea of shutting down and rebooting to see if my laptop would recognize the new monitor.

It did. Only the display was now sideways. On both the laptop and the new monitor. It took me a bit to figure out how to jimmy THAT, and I had to go into the graphics card.

Now, do I want a single view, a cloned view, or a dual view? I tried the clone -- not what I want. I tried the dual -- but I can't figure out (yet) how to get stuff to display on the new monitor. So, I'm opting, for the time being, for a single view just on the big monitor.

So far, so good. :) Me happy.

You may have noticed the word count bar inched forward a bit. Almost 900 words on Pallas yesterday. Are they good words? Probably not. But at least it's something. I have assignments to do today and I'm running behind, but I really am going to try to devote at least a half hour to Pallas every day. I have to get this finished so I can start editing. I also want to get started on a project I have put off for too long -- a short fiction volume.

And I think I may have found a place for "The Blood".

Other than that, the storms have moved in and I'm about ready to change into my jammies and unplug until the worst is over. Be my luck to get struck by lightening and blow out my new monitor. Heh.

Not funny if it happens, mind. ;)
