me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Jerry Healy, RIP

Just got such sad news: Jeremiah Healy, a fixture in the crime writing world and especially the world of the P.I. writer, has killed himself. Oh, Jerry. One of the first people I met when I started, Jerry was unique: outspoken, funny, caring. He could be exasperating, but can't we all? A former law professor, he had a great loud voice and wasn't afraid to use it. He told funny stories -- often off-color -- and laughed to shake the room at other people's stories. I loved it when I could make Jerry laugh. Jerry was a great supporter of bricks-and-mortar bookstores and of new writers. I don't know what went wrong, but Jerry, we'll miss you.
