Lordie, lordie. This journal is stil alive? How long does a journal have to be defunct before it gets deleted? Not that I mind. Of all the various flavors of weblogging there are out there, this is still my favorite. Simple. Elegant. It doesn't make my browser crash.

Am I back? I hope so. I have reason to be, so let's see if'n we can't follow through with this. And there is so much to write about.

It's been a rowdy time since last posting. the biggest news, of course, being that me 'n Pretty Maggie done got hitched. Mayhaps I'll post a photo or two as proof. But she said "I will" and I said "I will" and we done did!

On other fronts, my dad's been having a rough year. A pretty bad stroke last May, and dealing with lung cancer on top of that. But he's doing okay. Good spirits and not letting all this bring him down too much. This weekend he wants me to teach him how to play the drums. Huh. Go figure.

And he's one of the reasons I'm taking this journal up again. I'm encouraging him to keep one of his own (an analog one for now--maybe go digital later) and I figured if I'm going to tell him he has to keep a daily journal, then I sure as hell should as well. So we'll see how this goes.

Writing-wise, it waxes and wanes, although currently more the former than the latter. Winter is often a slow time for me. Too cold to work--I tend to bundle up and watch movies (or fall asleep to them on occasion). More on this as well as we keep this going. In summary, most of my written work has been taking the form of poetry and scripts (both comic and film). I have about 60 poems all out in the slushpiles of a bunch of journals and magazines. I have a couple of short comic scripts sitting with some people. I still have a number of short stories out in various slush piles as well.

One recent publication is "Pact Anthology" which appears in the just-released anthology from Dead Letter Press, Bound For Evil. It's been one of my favorite stories, but by the nature of it falling into the category of "Pact With the Devil" stories--it's been a tough sell. I'm glad it found a good home. It's a handsome volume with 800 pages of great stuff. Check it out!

Hokay. I've got to get back to work. Tune in again.

I'll certainly try to.

(There is do... or do not. There is no try.)

Cheers!
