shouldn't be allowed to talk to clients

Reading: Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman
Music: Lou Reed
TV/Movie: Vicar of Dibley
Link o' the Day: ha!

And welcome to another short entry.

Work, work, work. hehe. You know... after the payday for this, I'm going to relax. Not do a blessed thing.
Who do you think you're kidding?

No... really.
Come on! Pull the other one!

Bastard.
Hey, I'm your subconscious.

I am fully aware of that.

-=-=-=-

Anyway, voices in my head aside, it's all going along as planned.

Yesterday I listed a bunch of jobs I've held over the many years. Here's a list of other stuff I've done that were kinda neat.

Got married. Hey! cool!
Played drums in a punk band
Sang backup for a song in a recording studio
Played guitar on a street corner
Went down a zipline
Went through the National Guard obstacle course, including rapelling off a helicopter skid.
Climbed Mt. Snowdon (the hard way)
Sat on the boards for a computer museum, and for a Japanese language and culture society
Went on a paddleboat off the Mexican coast
Visited a Mayan ruin
Visited castles and ruins in southern England
Published stuff
Sold artwork
Had a drink with Stevie Ray Vaughn
Appeared in a crappy homemade film
Stood in for Bob Eggleton at a Hugo Awards ceremony. Got the red carpet treatment.

Well there's lot of other stuff, but I'm now pressed for time. But one thing appropo to the moment...

About 6 years ago an HR director declared that I was no longer allowed to talk with clients because I would often make them upset. Guilty. I don't know how to lie properly, and few companies like their clients to be told the truth.

She was fired maybe a year later. I stayed on for a few more years, and drifted through a couple of companies. But I've always tried to maintain the edict, "As per Elaine... I'm not allowed to talk to clients."

Sadly, subsequent bosses haven't seen it that way and wonder who this Elaine person is. This is why I've just dealt with three different clients, all in a row, and why we're not getting to a link-of-the-day.

Alas.

Off we go.

Cheers!
