All right, so I haven't taken the time to watch Being There yet. I'm waiting for a perfect time. Maybe later tonight if the Obama/McCain debate is cancelled. Just been doing some work. Some writing. And because it's raining, took a short nap.

I've had Comedy Central on a lot in the background. I can't get enough of The Daily Show--even in repeats. Someone should make Court Jester a cabinet position. Actually, no...that would be too easy. Court Jester should be an elected position, but in order to register, one must be able to a.) tell a joke and b.) get a joke. And while I'm turning the election process upside down, candidates shouldn't campaign, but be drafted. John Stewart not want to leave his cushy gig to go make fun of politians 24/7? Too bad. The people have spoken. Oh, and your salary will be tied to a National Laugh-o-meter.

Gilbert Gottfried, who will be forever banned from the position by agreement across the aisle, will be the only moderator, but he won't be allowed access to a microphone.

Ever.

I discovered that FEARnet channel is offering the Rob Zombie flicks House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. I don't watch a lot of slasher movies, and I've not been a big fan of the current "torture-porn" trend in horror, but what I've read about these movies makes me curious just the same. They're probably closer to Natural Born Killers than movies like the Saw series.

Maybe it's because one of the main characters is named Captain Spaulding and I'm such a die-hard Marx Bros. fan that I have to see what it's all about.

So I'll find time to watch them over the next few days. They're going to have to have some decent dialogue, and a plot that goes beyond swinging a meat cleaver. I don't care if they include shock scenes just for the sake of shock. I can actually get behind that. But if the whole movies are shock value with nothing else to offer, I'll be disappointed.

So we'll see.

Weekend's coming! Looks like rain for today and tomorrow. Sunday we have plans to head down to Westerly for Swamp Yankee Days--pretty much just a crafts fair that sometimes has some music. But we'll meet up with Pretty Maggie's mother, my dad's old ladyfriend, and maybe a brother or two, and have dinner. Then race back so I can make it to the Ward's Pub session. So Saturday looks lazy. Sunday not lazy. All good.

I received an e-mail from the local casting agency. It wasn't sent to me specifically, but as a registered member of their database. They claim that extras positions are always being sought for Showtime's The Brotherhood (which is set and filmed in Providence). I went and told them I was available.

Ha!

Do you like to play folk instruments? Fiddle? Banjo? Guitar? Mandolin? etc.? Check out MusicMoose.org--a great site with loads of video lessons ranging from rank beginner to advanced for a variety of instruments and playing styles. You can progress through the videos as a series, or pick and choose your poison.

Good stuff. Good stuff.

Cheers!
