Oi. The packing. The purging. Oi.

It's May 12th. We're hoping to close on June 19. That gives us just a little over a month to pack for the Big Move. Sound like plenty of time?

Ha! Give me a moment, please, to wipe the spittle from my chin.

There. Better now. Now where was I? I yeah...Ha!

We're packrats. We amass stuff to the point where its current mass is so massive that it starts to attract more mass on its own without our help. Our apartment is why people used to believe in spontaneous generation. Books pile up like fruit flies on a banana split. Even though I've seriously curtailed my DVD purchases since getting FiOS, there always seem to be more stacked precariously in cat-unfriendly zones. Office supplies. Magazines.

We got a lot of Neat Stuff for our wedding that we've never taken out of the box because they were for the new house. That stuff, at least, I don't have to worry o'ermuch about packing.

As for the rest of it...I foresee a mountain of cardboard boxes in my near future.

A mountain.

So far, so good. Getting a good amount of work done this week, and it's only Tuesday. Not that I couldn't do with an extra day to the week these days with the purging and packing we have coming up for the Big Move, but I'm still in good shape as far as work goes. The design integration book nears completion. Missing pieces to the Van Alexander book have been inserted. I have some covers to work on, and the next issue of the SFWA Bulletin. It's all good.

And it's much needed funds coming in.

Then there are some reviews and online columns coming up due. Thursday I'll be posting a review of Was Superman a Spy? by Brian Cronin. The Monday following that I'll be posting a piece about aping writing styles at Charge of the Write Brigade.

Nothing like keeping active.

Today's link takes you to the home page of the all-mighty Chieftains--undoubtedly the greatest Irish music ensemble ever conceived and created. These were the guys who got me into Irish music way back when. I used to own a couple of their albums on 8-track. I now, of course, have most on CD and digital.

Q. Why did the musician cross the road?

A. To record with the Chieftains.

Slainte!
