Welcome.

Much has happened. Today Doug and I made the final decision to adopt a child. Of course, only a select few know of our decision as of this date. We've been talking about it, but no "official" decision had been made.

I thought it best to begin a journal so I wouldn't have to answer the same questions multiple times. Plus, now people can "look back" and see what has happened before they knew about our decision.

As for biological curiousity: If you want details, I'll tell you privately. For most people, it's none of your business. Although you may be curious as to why we are adopting at a "relatively" young age (29 and 31) without "exploring" all our options... trust us. We weren't going any further with the information we had.

I suppose I could be a little more tactful. I am adopted, as is my brother. My nephew on Doug's side is adopted. It has always been an option to Doug and I; even before we got married we discussed our feelings about it. So perhaps we gravitated more quickly to this option than most people would.

Besides, women who are obsessed with having a biological child sicken me. The lengths some people will go to! Let's put it this way - the options left open to us were surgery on myself, heavy-duty fertility drugs (shots, strict schedules, etc), or test tubes. I'm not interested in any of those forms of bodily torture, and Doug thankfully is very supportive. Besides, why spend that much money on science when God has put children on this Earth who NEED families to love them?
