Last weekend we told both sets of parents and siblings. Jeff and Kathy are ecstatic for us, and offered to let us ramble on and on whenever we wanted.

We had to do some explaining to parents VE as to why we weren't going any further with a "natural" child. Mom and Dad VE expressed their support for us. Mom VE knew what was leading up to this. Both prospective sets of grandparents have a right to know what's going on. This is also no surprise for them - their first grandchild, Alek (son of Jeff and Kathy), is adopted from Kazakhstan.

My parents were very matter-of-fact about it. No surprise to them either, I had kept my mom updated on our feelings and decisions. A couple questions, then, “we’re happy for you.” Jeff and Bonnie happy too – but then my niece Iris began crying, and center of attention was back on the 2 month old!
