Well, our cover is minimally blown. The fates moved strangely last Friday. Doug and I got home from dinner out to a rather strange message on the machine.

"Amy? It's Cat, in Pittsburgh. I.... think.... I found something of yours online. I'm not sure. I don't know. But give me a call."

Now Doug didn't find this strange, but I looked at him and said, "she knows." I could hear the suppressed emotions... she wanted to be thrilled, but wanted to be cautious at the same time.

Cat also has a journal, which is where I got this nifty idea from. Turns out she was just putzing around looking at the "public" journals and found the title to my last entry, "Odd man out." She found it an intriguing title and so read it. Mind you, she did not KNOW whose it was. Isn't that strange? She began to get suspicious as things were clicking in her brain... Doug... Chicago.... adoption... and read all the previous entries. And thereby realizing it was probably me writing, called to confirm.

How strangely wacky is that?! But she has also agreed to keep things under her hat.

In other news, we are finally sending out our Immigration and Naturalization Service paperwork today - officially titled "Petition for Orphan" or something like that. Once that is submitted, our homestudy person submits her paperwork to INS, and INS then contacts us to tell us we'd make great parents and to go ahead with international adoption.

THEN WE CAN TELL THE WORLD!
