I am writing thank-you notes from last weekend's shower, right before another shower tomorrow. I really do dislike writing them. I'm not sure why; I fancy myself a pretty good communicator in general, able to write like a speak. Thank-you notes seem very wooden to me. So I put them off... but knowing I will have a bunch more next week, figured I better get on top of them!

I have written so many. Because a lot of staff and students/families gave us gifts for Roman too, I actually had to sit down, type up a template, and substitute names and gifts to get them all done. I think I counted close to 30 when I was all done. It was almost as bad as our wedding! Of course this is all rude to say, because people are generous enough to give us gifts.

Yesterday marked 1 month that we have been home with Roman. It seems like he's been here much longer already. We're finally getting a schedule down; depending on what's happening during the day, he does now get 1-1/2 hour nap in, sometimes a little more. Which makes Roman much more pleasant, which makes me very happy, which makes Doug very happy. So harmony is beginning to be restored in our house.

I find after only 3 weeks, certain theme songs get stuck in your head. Elmo not really; we haven't watched it often enough. But Blue's Clues... WOW. "We are going to play Blue's Clues, we are going to play Blue's Clues..." I find myself humming it during the day and making up other words to it. I'm beginning to like the show so much, I did research on how they switched hosts from Steve to Joe a couple years back. Yes I know - I even know their names!

Roman is funny watching BC. Because the hosts talk right to the screen, it's like they're talking to YOU. And Roman loves it! He giggles back at them, squeaks and squeals at them. I've caught him even talking to Joe once.

Today we're meeting my retired former mentor for lunch at 1pm. She was a SS teacher too and loves hearing about the historical stuff in Russia. I did some "observing" for her when I was there as she asked a couple questions I couldn't answer. So it will be nice to catch up with her and have Roman meet her!

Okay. Back to thank-you notes. I have written 4, have 6 left.
