When I picked up Roman at daycare, he was getting his diaper changed. I stood behind his head while he yelped, and noticed that his first molar was coming in on the bottom left-hand side! He has gone without new teeth for so long, I was getting a touch concerned. A little white dot in his gums... I noticed that his upper left gums had some "ridging" as well, so thinking more are on their way.

He was in a terrific mood this evening; giggling, laughing, playing chase with me. He does start his own little games now. Example: I was sitting on the floor and he was on my lap. He would get up and walk away from me a few steps, then slowly start walking backward until he'd fall backward into my lap, giggling away. I'd (of course!) tickle him or snuggle him, he'd get up, walk a few steps... and do it all over again. We did this probably 7 or 8 times, laughing the whole time. It amazes me sometimes that we are entrusted with this little life.

Tonight the cuckoo clock inexplicably woke him up at 9:30 (one cuckoo). He immediately began screaming, and has woken twice since then with lots of cries and groans. The third time he was actually standing up yelling, because we heard him when he fell back onto his mattress. Poor guy. Doug comforted him the first time, but we let him cry it out the next times. What tears at my heart is that I can picture him in his crib, holding onto the rail, head back, face red, tears streaming. I know he needs to learn to calm himself and get back to sleep on his own, so I just involve myself in reading again. But my heart still aches!
