Working on: Just finished introduction lesson-planning for the Industrial Revolution
---------------------------------
In the 4-1/2 years I've been married, I have never burned a dinner. Truly, this is a fact. Until tonight. And my means of burning said dinner? The slow-cooker.

Now, you may be wondering, "how can an invention that is supposed to make life easier cause you to BURN something?" It's like this. Chicken with honey/lemon juice/ginger sauce, low for 6-8 hours. I had mine in for 9, figuring that it doesn't hurt something to be in longer. Well, it does - at least for chicken. It was all black/brown on the bottom, and dark brown around the edges. Dry, dry, dry. So we basically had a dinner of green beans and rice. :)

Now Roman, he has a vocabulary that has appeared overnight. He has at least one, possibly two new words a day now. Recent ones we've heard include "play", "belly", "car", "cup" (pronounced "puc"), and sock/clock (interchangeably pronounced as "cock". Yes, I know.) He knows almost all his colors and says them correctly most of the time. I would swear to you, he even counted to three the other day.

We also have been practicing singing, and this evening we sang our first song together. He was mighty pleased, even though he was only filling in one word - that being "cookie" for the song "C is for Cookie." But every time he said it, he would light up and grin. Lastly, he has an ongoing conversation with our cat Merry apparently. He could not stop babbling at the cat, chasing after him and calling "hi kitty, bye kitty, blah blah blah kitty..." Oh man, this is the best age.

I made a big step today. I joined a "Livonia Mommies" online group for "news, chats, and playdates". I don't make friends easily so this is a big deal. Hopefully will meet some people in my area now; they do groups with kids, as well as a monthly "mom night out" activity. Cross fingers.
