Working on: an annotated bibliography of all our sources. Grrr.
---------------------------------

I discovered today that an annotated bib. sucks. Not just a bib, where you write your sources in alpha order. No problem, except for some web-citing that gets tricky. But annotated, which I learned means you have to add a line or two as to WHY you chose this source. My opinion - it's stupid.

This morning Roman woke on his own and immediately said "no daycare!" and then requested to go to Baba's house. After having that hope dashed for the day, he was fine. I made it to Henry Ford by 8:15. This morning's lecture was "1950s: Culture of Anxiety." It was really good - an overview of what I knew a bit of, having a course on this in college, but with a new twist of "anxiety" permeating the info that made it like new. And made me come to the realization that even from the Revolution forward, we Americans are fearful, anxious people. Afraid of losing our rights, our republic "experiment", of other races, of other classes, of gender, of other governments.... almost everything that drives significant eras of our American history is driven by ANXIETY. And a hazy opinion about Levittown being quite equal to the subdivisions being built around me. With all the pros and cons of such an idea.

In our breakout session we talked about some readings we had done for the week, and then we had a good conversation on the above. We went from sharecropping to the Patriot act in an hour. Very good.

After lunch at the Michigan Cafe in the museum, my group members and I decided to take a 12 minute break and tour the Dymaxion House. Then we launched into our group work for the rest of the afternoon.

From 4-6pm The HF hosted a "social event" for us to relax and chat, and mix between grade levels as we haven't done that as much this year. It was at a pavilion in Greenfield Village, which was nice. Right by the carousel. They had Bell's Red Ox available. First time trying it - delicious. Went well with the veggies, cheese, crackers, fruit, bread, and marinated veggies that were available. Although it's not listed on their site... hmm.

Tomorrow we put finishing touches on our project, do an Exhibition Walk of all our work, and hand it over to the museum staff to be hung. We're supposed to be out around 12, with free admission to the museum and Greenfield Village if we wish. I think I will take advantage of that.
