Working on: catching up on housework!
---------------------------------
Whew! After spending a little over an hour on the annotated bib. last night (and Doug making a run for ice cream), our project has been finished, displayed, and collected. It will go on display in the museum within 2 weeks, to remain until the end of September.

Today Roman was whiney. I am really glad that he doesn't have to get up so early anymore. Even when I teach, it won't be such a morning like we've had. Poor guy, it was a rough schedule to deal with.

We arrived at the Henry Ford and had 30 minutes to put finishing touches on our projects. Then we practiced a grading rubric on the dramatic performance and PowerPoint presentation done by 2 high school groups on the 1967 riots. Following, we all displayed our projects and walked around, taking turns with our group to explain our own project.

We were given a sneak preview of next year's themes. Middle School will be covering Age of Jackson (the driest part of our curriculum, in my opinion) and the Antebellum period past Reconstruction. High School will deal with New Deal and Modern America (1960s to 1980s, I think). Focus will be on READING a novel and WRITING skills. To that end, the big novel for middle school will be "Uncle Tom's Cabin." If you can believe it, I've never read it. So I'm looking forward to that.

Now, to do a little more catch-up before I retrieve my boy, and to relax this weekend. I have 1-1/2 weeks until I return to school.
