Working on: Quitting for the night.
---------------------------------

Well, it's 10:15pm and I'm actually going to wrap things up for the night. I have watched "Survivor," planned 7th grade out the next two weeks, know what I'm doing Monday in 8th grade, and am covered through Tuesday in my elective class. Not counting the 5 skits, 2 sets of journals, and 2 sets of brochure projects to grade (oops, and type up the rubric for that brochure project!) - I'm actually ahead of the game for once.

If you heard a sarcastic guffaw, that's me.

I'm pretty much going into hiding for the next 6 weeks or so, at least until I can get through the first official 10 weeks of school. Then my elective class will be repeated and I'll only have to "adjust", not "completely make up" the class. And I won't miss this first bunch of kids at all. It also occurred to me that this is the first time since I did a long-term sub that I have three class preps. No wonder I'm overwhelmed.

In potty news, Roman used the potty at daycare both times they set him on it today, so he had a special treat for dinner - Daddy made blueberry pancakes! Yummy! He grins every time we mention it. He also slept 2-1/2 hours, thank goodness. Mr. No-Nap two days this week. Of course, when I suggested we use the potty here, he got this crazed-sounding voice and said "No! No potty!" The ones at daycare are child-size, I think perhaps he doesn't like the fact he can't get off ours without help.

Otherwise, nothing much new. Doug goes on a business trip in a few days and he's making me jealous. Outside of the actual work, he gets to go out to dinner every night and he and his coworker are planning on at least one movie. Me? I'm trying to figure out whether to ask a visiting friend to put Roman to bed on Tuesday so I can go to the school board meeting to hear myself be granted official tenure. The excitement is overwhelming, isn't it?
