No Fooling

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Last experiment for my Tuesday laboratory class. I had them simulating a telescope by putting two lenses on a magnetic board and lifting it to eye level to look at a meter stick vertically attached to the chalkboard. Keeping both eyes open, they were supposed to determine the magnification by comparing the sizes of both images.

The girls were especially having a difficult time holding the magnetic board at eye level. So I marveled their ingenuity putting one of the stools on the table and sighting it from there.

I also gave them their oral report assignments, which has to be videotaped, and, I told them, shown to high school students during the science summer camp. What bothers me is that I left enough copies of that assignment last Friday for all the groups of both classes. So did the other class get more copies than they should have?

Tomorrow morning I’ll be demonstrating astronomy software to my classes using an LCD projector. The guy who’s supposed to bring it over to my room and set it up this afternoon seems to be absent and not answering his phone, so I just got the lab coordinator to bring it over here to the department and I’ll be the one to set it up real early tomorrow morning. I'm just waiting for the big suitcase to arrive.

In the three hours vacant between my classes though, will be the thesis defense of the International Studies pair on NASA’s Mars efforts. I hope it doesn’t run too long that I have to cut it short just to go to my class.

Took a two-hour nap again today, especially since I got home at almost 2am, and had to take an extra ride to perform an errand at 7am before going to school today.
