Not Fine Arts, But Might As Well Be - Maybe Coarse

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I’m interrupting the account of my classes again to talk about the college Communication Arts week celebration in school that culminated yesterday at the same time as the Foundation Day activities.

There was a lot of derogatory feedback that I and some of the other students heard from the students of the other schools (engineering, business and computer studies) about what the CA students prepared.

Earlier in the week a photo exhibit was opened, not associated with any photography class this time though, unlike from a trimester or so ago.

All week long some travelogue type shows made by the students have also been showing in the cafeteria, unfortunately very amateurish looking with bad audio (loud background noises) and very egotistical with a lot of close ups, and almost no editing to speak of, at all.

I already outlined in the student edition about the problems with the posters.

The activities lined up for the yesterday evening were a fashion show (not the first time it had been held in campus as well) but this time with an entrance fee despite the fact that it was held in the very open central lobby (with clear glass doors), a poetry reading by the Performance Literature class, and a “coffeehouse”, that lasted until 6pm.

The negative feedback from the students of the other courses, including freshmen, was that it was no wonder the CA week was scheduled first: they had the least preparation time for the shallow events they had set up that take absolutely no logistics at all, besides the sound system.

And for that they just piggybacked on the arrangement of the Student Council for the open jam, led by the guy who headed the Band Fest.

It may have been mean, but it wasn’t wrong. The students didn’t make the clothes, or memorize their poems (they had folders to read from).

Session 1233 just poses. Class dismissed.
