Students' Teacher in Several Subjects Should Know More Than Others Their Workload for the Term

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I found a compromise in my Computer Circuit Fundamentals class, instead of immediately giving them a new exercise program to make.

I gave them instead a sample program to study on our new topic: one-dimensional arrays.

The difference between accessing array elements in assembly language compared to other high-level programming languages they might already be familiar with is that just like with the string manipulation before, they have to get the element number from the relative address in a specific register, not just some variable.

I'm starting them slow before we get to the slightly (or maybe largely) more complicated topic of two-dimensional arrays, where the access is not with two element indices - well, it still is, but it has to be converted to a one-dimensional number address index to reach the specific area in memory.

When they have no more questions about how the arrays are accessed, then I will give them their next exercise, starting with simple sorting.

In my Integrated Computer Systems class, we are still trying to figure out how to expand the two-buzzer system (which already works) to at least eight and maybe even twelve buzzers without having too many gates used and two many wires.

This means as much as possible using several pre-packaged chips that are already available, such as multiplexers, and maybe even seven segment display converters to replace several LEDs.

And just to round things out, in my Intermediate Robotics class, each group so far has a different interpretation of how to go about the hurdle of not using wheels and requiring a stationary base.

Although no one came up with using insect or spider legs to get around the prohibition.

But I will have to talk about that some other time, since it will take up more space than I have left right now, maybe even a whole post.

Session 1407 is just lounging in classes. Class dismissed.
