Academic Abortions

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

A lot of the plans (in terms of the completion of requirements of my students in various classes) we made for the next two weeks are now up in the air because of the suspension of classes last Thursday and Friday.

First, there is the field trip for my general science requirement mechanics class.

It was to be set on Sunday next week. The problem is, when I checked the website last Wednesday night, it turns out that on that day, the place has a private function and can only open at 3pm. I don’t know if the students are up to this. But if they are, then we will have the place all to ourselves with very few other visitors present.

I was also supposed to have the waiver form photocopied last Thursday, but since that didn’t push through, they will have to have it signed by their parents after they have paid for their tickets, instead of before.

If they don’t want it to go ahead on that Sunday, since it only leaves them around six hours to complete the activity sheet I have planned, then we will probably have to set the date of the trip after finals, but before course card distribution, otherwise it is cancelled altogether.

Their practical exam is set for Wednesday. I was also supposed to have posted the schedule last Thursday. Now they will only see it today, leaving them two days to study for which experiments to report on.

For my intermediate robotics class, we will then have to set the demonstration of their final project during their finals week, if they want to spend the entirety of this week working on their dancing mechanism. Besides, we have to take advantage of the time that the grade school students are still here, before they go off for their own Christmas breaks.

This will mean full-on coordination with the assistant principals on when their respective charges are free during that week, beyond their own festive activities and programs, as well as that of the teachers and staff.

Session 1431 likes postponements for the extra time it gives. Class dismissed.
