Freedom Is Academic to A Point

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

In the student-accessible version for today I was talking about our recent field trip.

Two more things surprised me about this activity than that I talked about there.

First of all, the free tickets that the teachers are supposed to get for arranging the event (at a maximum of one for every ten tickets bought, as announced on their web site) were sold back to the students.

So for every eleven students, only payment for ten tickets had to be given to the park.

The extra payment was then apparently given for our public school scholars.

So much for the tickets going to the extra teachers that were supposed to help "guard" the students in their explorations.

And speaking of which, since the students were calling me instead of their teachers (who were out of mobile phone reach) during the afternoon, I had the suspicion that my co-teachers weren't actually there anymore after initially waiting at the entrance to give the tickets and activity sheets to their classes.

To think that for the upcoming history excursion, the dean has required that a certain number of faculty be present to accompany fifty plus students.

Maybe this science class field trip should go through the approval stage again.

And speaking of field trip restrictions, apparently overnight trips to the Island Fortress (again for the history class) isn't allowed anymore - for those required to attend that is.

That means that the students who want to stay overnight may do so only if they are not required to attend (which means no waiver forms) along with the teachers (me, of course) and wait for the students going for the tour on the day after, then all take the ferry going off the island at the end of the second day.

This early, even if we're talking about an excursion that won't be happening probably until sometime after September, I'm already thinking of how to buck the system; I want to return there that bad.

Session 1753 thinks teachers hang out together when outside the classroom as well. Class dismissed.
