Intentions vs. Logistics

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Just a few more comments about the camping I was part of last Friday night.

There were far too many participants and far too few volunteers (especially among the non-students) to keep everyone in tow.

I suggested splitting the next batch into groups: after all, they already wanted to separate the boys from the girls to prevent hanky-panky.

The only problem with that is that the facilitators will be doing three times the work.

They may veto that suggestion just to keep more weekends free for themselves, and to hell with what the students want to do in the cover of darkness in the middle of school grounds.

This is the first such activity, and may end up being the last.

If the teachers are going to split them in small groups anyway, I don't think it will require three days to accomplish all they want to do, which is just to have the students experience some measure of discomfort and difficulty the people they will be helping have to go through everyday.

As it was, there was a lot of preparation done by the NSTP teachers for just that one activity, and asking the others to help them, and getting the upperclassmen to assist as well.

I also know that the grandstanding of at least one teacher who is all talk (not even suggestions, just general chatter) during their meetings has earned the ire of another of the teachers of the same subject.

This is in fact the same teacher I mentioned in the student-accessible version who refused to talk using the microphone in front of the students, but changed to very inappropriate shorts and cap after being at the registration table.

I bet this was especially bought for the occasion again, just like his color coordinated cheer-leading outfit during the holy mountain excursion and the light green sports outfit (complete with shades) for one of the first student games openings.

Session 1873 may have to rethink these student freedom events. Class dismissed.
