The Slacker Influence Over the Students Continues

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Yesterday I saw a document on the desktop of one of the computers in the engineering faculty room entitled "petition" so I opened it.

It was from the students, specifically the irregular fourth year ones.

This is after the fact that at the start of the month, when the notice was put up by the associate dean that petitioning is now open until early November. I told their batch representative about it, even giving her their plans of study to update.

But when I asked her about it a few days afterwards, she said that the feedback she got from her batch mates was that the subjects they actually want to get are not what the dean offers anyway, so why bother?

Not that I'm used to that kind of fatalism with these students, who would go to the border of disrespect to get the things they want before, even the wrath of the regular students just because they don't want a class moved to an earlier time.

But after that I thought that for once the students would accept the fact that they could never graduate at the same time as the regular students, and that they have to live with the consequence of their previous failures, which is just to finish a term later.

Now they came up with a letter than is signed by all of them, not coming from the batch representative, which probably means someone else among them grew wise and convinced the others.

But going against the established policy again, this time they put a table of their updated plan of study as part of their letter of petition.

And coming this close to the deadline again, it's possible that the associate dean already came up with her own list of subjects to offer.

Which may end up with both sides being frustrated again, and all because the students - as usual - waited until the last minute to come up with what the teachers have asked them to pass.

And once more, I'm caught in the middle, hearing flak from both sides.

Session 1887 really can't submit something way ahead of time. Class dismissed.
