Not Deserving of the Responsibility

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I was at a renewal board meeting today, where, because of a glitch with the scheduling (considering it was never set before when the associate dean isn't here) slacker co-teacher was made a representative.

Not surprisingly, he brought all of his own concerns at the table, and doubled with the dean's penchant for side track discussions, the meeting took twice as long as the thirty minutes it was supposed to take, even though we had only two people to evaluate.

Well, personally I was able to bring up my own concern, which I have mentioned here before, and that is the fact that the school psychometrician makes just one student evaluation for the lecture and lab subjects, even though the teachers may be different.

I was able to include this in our study of the chemistry teacher's class, to possibly explain a sudden dip in the rating for the second of three classes she taught, where someone else taught lab.

For slacker co-teacher though, first asking about the responsibilities of the director who we were evaluating, he then segued into making the director directly responsible for the funds of the school of engineering, which is doubtful if it will happen.

But of course, any opportunity to bend the ear of an administrator is a good one.

On the good side, at least he learned that for his own promotion, just academic performance is not enough, and neither is submission of materials developed for the class, but also the EX-factor.

This means EXtra-curricular activities as well as the EXtra effort made towards the betterment of the school. Of course this doesn't apply to him, because just to be able to be part of the meeting he let the lab technician give a seatwork to his class which was happening simultaneously, instead of begging off.

The dean also had to emphasize to him that he should hold the student comments about the director's classroom performance as confidential.

This means the dean already knows by association that slacker co-teacher's circle of acquaintances includes those who maliciously obtain and discuss confidential information about other teachers.

Session 1913 will see one bit of how his promotion is rejected before he leaves the school. Class dismissed.
