Student Exploitation of The Loopholes in the System

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Academic tidbits day, from my various classes this week, and other teachers.

First, some of my students in my robotics class, when we met in the lab for them to work on their project, said they had to go to some fabrication shop somewhere to pick up their robot body.

Now, I could forgive this once, if it means they won't have anything to do for that day, but if they are going to do this often, then I'm going to start to suspect that it's just an excuse they come up with so as not to have to be present in class to be supervised.

And again, I'm willing to bet that they will be working on it at the last minute again, and will be complaining as the deadline nears about there not being enough time for them to finish, so they will be asking to have some of their proposed goals removed.

@@ The director of the school of engineering just showed me a piece of paper with some specifications written by a certain student that he wants to be bought for a project he is making.

It is assumed that this is a project for class, and not just one of his hairbrained schemes again designed to impress the teachers outside of how he is actually performing in his studies.

I thought the director was only allowing this for certain classes, and that for the rest, the sponsorship is on reimbursement basis.

Besides, it's already the thirteenth week of classes. Will that project be submitted in time for finals next week? What happened to all those resources his parents allowed him for submitting his previous obviously professionally handled submissions?

Maybe we have to make a form for this kind of thing again, so they don't submit it on a sheet torn from a notebook and believe it will be honored.

Session 1933 should be proud about being the cause for all these rules and bureaucracies. Class dismissed.
