Too Bad Classes Weren't Cancelled Today

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Three guesses as to whom I was talking about in the student accessible version today, and a certain student doesn’t count.

What I forgot to mention about today is that it’s the brother president’s birthday, and there was a little money set aside for what was supposed to be a simple breakfast, courtesy of the two cafeterias.

The president’s secretary should not have been surprised that the food that arrived was double what was expected.

Of course they are going to add some more entrees at their own expense; we’re talking about the person who makes the supreme decision whether or not they stay in business in campus.

@@ There is also one unforeseen disadvantage to having the course code of the new astronomy course being almost the same as the old one, albeit with a 1 at the end: some students enrolled in the lecture for the astronomy one, but in the lab of the computational mechanics one.

So I was surprised in my first lecture class in astronomy this morning, when I saw more faces than there were in the lab sessions yesterday. That’s when we found out the discrepancy.

Maybe this will make the vice dean realize that the course code really does have to be changed to something unmistakable.

And speaking of which, there were the expected sighs of relief when I said that the class we have will not be based on problem solving, which may also be the reason for the increase in enrollees post start of term.

@@ I’ll put this here because this is not something that the students need to concern themselves with: I had a strange message from Chat today saying that we should meet because she feels she owes me an apology and an explanation. For what, I have no idea, and I said so in my reply to her.

She confirmed the meeting, but she didn’t say it was about. I guess I’ll find out Friday, but it’s not usual that something like that would escape my attention, if it’s really that important.

I could ask her what the matter is, but I’m already half expecting a “I’ll tell you on Friday” answer.

@@ Okay, a certain student is not enrolled in my class of computer systems organization. For some reason, there are a bunch of pre-requisites between the first course, Switching Theory, and this one in the flowchart.

And my student sin this class are mostly irregular fourth year students, and one regular third year student in computer engineering, since the electronics and communications people are not required to take this.

Session 2501 still has no full-entry sized discussions, and it’s almost the end of the first week of the New Year. There is a curiosity as to whether perception and elocution has changed in the interim. Class dismissed.
