"Everyone Must Be There to Listen to Me"

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Another faculty meeting today, and for me it was another big waste of time.

I just wish that instead of thinking that he is reaching out to the faculty by having these face to face sessions where most of the participants are quiet anyway, he’d just post his announcements in an email and invite replies.

That way people can read it at their leisure, and do something else more productive with the rest of their time. Besides, it’s become just a broken (pun intended) record of defending the decisions of lack of faculty benefits, where the money is going, and own ideas of how to increase enrollment.

The fact that the meeting was split between different schools did not help at all. I thought our meeting (with most of those who make the meeting long being in the other batch) would go faster, but he just waxed poetic nevertheless.

In fact, it was like having the first batch being the more reactive one, he thought he would anticipate that our concerns are similar by bringing up old concerns no one has ever brought up, and may have had no intention of bringing up.

What I didn’t like is that it was just used by people like slacker co-teacher to get more ammunition to rant about later on out of earshot of the brother president.

Again, the hope he has here is that people will believe in the cause he is espousing enough for them to bring it up themselves or act on it, even though he has his own agenda for wanting that same thing: mainly, more pay for less work.

It really does illustrate the point that I believe the college faculty meeting is the only one like this, compared to that of the grade school and high school faculty meetings, and that of the staff, that more college faculty are whiners.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise that the students act the same way; regardless of how they act in the classroom, the students sense the insincerity of the attitude and the subconscious subliminal suppressed feelings are picked up.

But I do agree with what they said that the marketing personnel isn’t doing a good job, coming up with strategies without consulting with the faculty who have been here longer than he has on how to better market the school.

Session 2519 has to look forward to more meetings like this. Class dismissed.
