Wanting the School to Pay for Laziness

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

The lab technician this morning just gave me the keys to the lab. Apparently he's been to the clinic and they declared him sick enough to go home. He told me about a supplier arriving today at 1pm (trying to sell us something again) which he said was already set with the director, to whom he also informed about his illness.

Sadly (not) I won't be able to attend that sales pitch because that's the same time as the joint office of student affairs, mission office and guidance office discussion series starter.

@@ The director of the school of engineering just told me yesterday that the integrated school wants us to move our labs to the west wing, so that all their offices will be on the east wing.

So what about the shared resources then, such as the badminton courts and the science labs? Are we now also not allowed to use those because they are in the east wing?

And it's not as if the building is too big that walking from one wing to another is detrimental to one's health.

Thankfully, I think the vice dean is backing up the director on rejecting the offer.

@@ Speaking of vice dean, there was an email from her the other day about accommodating the one student in computer systems organization who doesn't have switching theory and digital design as prerequisites in her flow chart.

This is particularly aimed at slacker co teacher who is probably not making enough effort to make sure she learns the basics instead of waving off the rest of the students with a "you know this already" or a "read the textbook/manual."

Thankfully I think she's the last of her batch in this predicament, although it's a bit irritating that she didn't take it along with her batch mates last term, when it would have been less trouble to adjust the topics since it's for more people.

@@ I don't consider myself filthy rich, but the naked greed of some people for money is jarring when I see it.

It's almost funny (almost, but not quite) to see them come up with financial propositions that are always peppered with "sorry for the trouble" in each text, yet in the same breath show their impatience with constant questions of "sir, is my allowance there already?"

I'm nearly tempted to make it part of my mission as their employer to teach them how to save wisely.

Session 2565 after all, is also earning money while they are the ones working. Class dismissed.
