Bad Influence Isn't Temporary

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Good thing I didn't promise anything about a last post concerning slacker co-teacher, because it wasn't.

Until he actually leaves the country he still isn't thinking about his negative influence on the students.

Today I found out that last Thursday he invited the fifth year students out for drinking.

That's something he has always joined them in during Christmas breaks and such celebratory times, but I guess it's only now that he's revealing he doesn't need a reason to imbibe and socialize.

And what's his idea of socialization: teasing them about past infatuations and relationships, his one trick pony.

I think I've already mentioned here about him mentioning to a graduating student who he hasn't seen in three years about a crush he had when he was the teacher in a subject back in first year.

I know how the student must feel, having moved on and everything, just to hear some pathetic dig at his distant past from someone who doesn't know him any better.

I even heard that he was joking to one student about another girl, while his current girlfriend was there.

His excuse: they're together anyway. As if a girl in a relationship doesn't or shouldn't feel jealousy or insecurity.

I was even reminded of him when I saw the appointment earlier for the physical facilities head.

He was asked before why he didn't apply for he position. He gave some excuse but the real reason is that he'd be moving up beyond his level of incompetence, and that being a more prominent position, all his laziness would become more evident as he doesn't finish the tasks.

Besides, it requires him to be present in school even on Saturdays and Sundays with events, something he's not even willing to do on a Friday night for Engineering Week.

So he was satisfied with the level of pay he was getting here, and the lack of answerability.

After all, are the students going to complain that they are not learning anything in his class about the specific lesson (which is just read from the slides anyway, and his exams are all memorization) and instead they remember the jokes and criticisms of life in general and the tricks on how to get ahead of the game even if it's by underhanded means.

And don't forget the teasing of their classmates about their love life, or lack of one.

Session 2689 prays "leave already". Class dismissed.
