When It Pours

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

And there is another case that has to be dealt with, this time involving a teacher on the discipline board.

This teacher before was complaining about the amount of trash in the computer lab, which is a lot.

So this got communicated to the head of the janitors. On the day that this same teacher has a class in the computer lab and leaves her students for a minute, the head of the janitors enters and sees an unopened but full juice bottle at one of the terminals of the students in the lab.

This is where the account differs. According to the janitor, he politely asked for their identification cards.

According to the students they were intimidated; the janitor even radioed their descriptions, making it look like he was security.

So it got exacerbated when the teacher was called to the office of physical facilities to explain, and she raised her voice because she said the officer there would not let her finish one sentence.

Now there are two cases: against the students who might have violated computer lab policy (raised by the head of the janitors), and against the head of the janitors for conduct unbecoming from the students and teacher.

I’m sure that if one is upheld, the other will be dismissed. But for now, what the teacher and the discipline officer are concerned about is that no one should be able to talk to the students involved without the presence of someone from student welfare. When I talked to the dean, she said that it would be student welfare who talks to the students, no one else, and they will only ask for a formal complaint from the janitor.

@@ The organization for musicians met earlier, at the same time as the annual road safety seminar.

I asked them for their list of officers, the minutes of the meeting (there were more than two dozen attendees) and their plans for the second and third term since they are only a probationary group for now.

It was very telling that one of the freshmen who wanted him and his band to play anywhere during the foundation week, when the topic of the kick-off event was brought up, immediately asked if all members can play.

This is the same person who, when the student council said that they will not be holding any event during the culminating day of the foundation week, tried to guilt them by saying he already told all of his friends to watch.

In fact when the current officers and the former founders (does that make sense? Founders of the former incarnation of the group before it was not accredited for one year) were meeting, and this kid was mentioned, the word quote poser unquote was mentioned. Over-eagerness aside, I would agree.

Well, they will find out just how well they are received if and when they play and the crowd reacts or does not.

Otherwise, I will be supporting these older students in this their last shot at leaving a legacy in campus.

Session 2809 just wishes that several other students were that concerned about impact over title. Class dismissed.
