Looking Forward to the Future

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Part of the problem around here is that the shuttle is hourly going out from the school. So if I miss the latest one by just a few minutes, it is an almost sixty minute wait for the next trip; best maximize the time.

I have around a half hour left to write this post before it would best to go down to the parking area.

@@ I just finished the primer of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to be used for the workshop with the incoming brother president over the Valentine and Chinese New Year weekend.

We had the first session on January 19, and I was in Makati with my best friend from college Nolan trying to send out what I had finished before 8am of January 18 prior to not going to school.

Besides the SWOT we also had to do the operational plans for the next three years, which I based solely on the guiding principles.

It was only during the January 19 meeting that I realized the plans were supposed to be taken from the strategies developed from the juxtaposition of the strengths with the threats and opportunities, then the weaknesses also.

Think of a two by two box where the two rows are labeled S & W, then the two columns are O & T.

Each box therefore is based on two of the four, and there were supposed to be strategies given to minimize the threats and weaknesses.

So my original three items per operational year for the next three years became 16 items for the first year and 4 for the second year.

For me the third year was too far away to think about, and may not be scanned by the others as well. Besides, to stretch the programs and instead of thinking of new ones I just extended their full implementation to three years.

I even thought at first that I was not going to be present at the workshop because the dean said she would be the one to present the report.

But, since I was still part of the email of the secretary of the president, I guess I am part of the head count.

My secretary (am still not used to saying that after almost two years) also gave her proposal for the 2010-11 budget, which I attached. This was important in showing our usual annual expenses.

And there was a column added to the operational plan, which was the budget estimate for all the new programs. It was fun to dream, and at the same time I was proud to try to keep my cost projections low.

Still I am looking forward to the food at the place that I have been to at least three times already, maybe four.

@@ Speaking of which, is it good to show the students how much money they have? Because my guess is if they know the amount they will want to spend all of it. Should there be an incentive for cutting back on costs? I just wish that that was their mindset, instead of spending all the cash there irresponsibly.

Session 2953 hopes that what I sent will be enough to make them want to keep me for at least one more year. Class dismissed.
