Yes, he has a little cold. Yes, he’s drooling up a storm which very well could mean teething. But please, the only other time he had this convergence of symptoms was our last gluten trial. He had some days of constipation. Now, he’s got diarrhea.

I don’t mind all the diaper changes. I mind two in a row in the middle of the night. Just when you think you’ve rocked and sung and gotten those eyes to close, you smell something rotten. I was going to let him wait until morning, but his eyes flickered open, I changed him, and we had to put in another hour of sleep inducing routine.

He’s been cheerful and easy today (though we are on poopy diaper three of the day), so John and I are negotiating the blood test. I just want to do it. A positive would be clear info. A negative would be inconclusive and when the kid is of age, he can decide to try again.

I love this peek at the gluten life. David and I went out to lunch with my friend Ellie, and I ordered off the menu for all of us. I took him to childcare while I did jazzercise; they gave him crackers, and I didn’t have to freak. Gosh, it makes life so easy. But if it makes him sick, forget it, just forget it.
